A day after murder charges were dropped against her and her son, a Chicago mother who was accused of ordering her teen son to shoot a man at a fast food restaurant filed a lawsuit against the city and the arresting cops.
Carlishia Hood, 35, was charged with first-degree murder and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile last week and is currently being jailed on $3 million bond. She was freed from the Cook County Jail on Monday.
The State’s Attorney for Cook County, Illinois, has stated that it cannot “meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases.” “I’ve experienced pain in many ways that I would never have thought,” she said about her arrest.
”What happened to me was totally unnecessary. Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten and being arrested.” Specifically, Hood is suing in Cook County Circuit Court for malicious prosecution, false arrest, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

On June 18, a man was recorded on a cellphone ranting at Hood and threatening to “knock her out” before telling her to “get your food.” The footage was shared online over the weekend. He then repeatedly hits Hood in the face and head.
Hood, according to prosecutors, allegedly texted her 14-year-old son to come inside the restaurant as he was waiting outside. The teenager shot 32-year-old Jeremy Brown in the back before fleeing the eatery. Prosecutors allege that Hood instructed Brown to keep shooting while she and her minor son followed him. On the spot, Brown was ruled dead.

Surveillance footage captured the shooting, but a smartphone video did not, authorities said. Hood and her son eventually surrendered to authorities. Hood, according to the prosecution, is a licensed firearms dealer and holder of a concealed carry licence.
In a press conference on Monday, her lawyer Ari Williams said, “Ms. Hood is and has always been a victim,” as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. “On June 18 of this year my life changed. My son’s life changed,” she told reporters Tuesday at a news conference.
