American politician Nancy Patricia Pelosi (born March 26, 1940) is the current speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Since 1987, she has represented the state of California in the House of Representatives. Pelosi, a Democrat, is the first woman to serve as speaker of the House in the United States history.
First elected in 1987, Pelosi’s father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., was a member of the House of Representatives for more than 30 years. He’d been a congressman for Maryland and the mayor of Baltimore before that. In 2021, she will begin her 18th term as the dean of the California congressional delegation.
The majority of San Francisco is in Pelosi’s district, which includes the entire city and county. As a congresswoman, she first served in the 5th district (1987–1993), and subsequently, the 8th district (1993–2013) after the 1990 census altered district lines. Pelosi has served as House Minority Leader (2003–2007 and 2011–2019) and House Speaker (2007–2011 and since 2019) since 2003, making her the first woman to lead a political party in Congress.

Nancy Pelosi Early Life
She was born on March 26, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland as Nancy Patricia Pelosi (née D’Alesandro). A single mother raised seven sons and one daughter, and she was the last to be born. Italy is the ancestral home of both of her parents’ families. At the time of her birth, Pelosi’s father served as a Democrat in the House of Representatives from Maryland and later served as Mayor of Baltimore.
Her brother, Thomas D’Alesandro III, served as Baltimore’s mayor from 1967 to 1971, and she served as the city’s first female mayor. Her mother, who was also active in the Democratic Party and involved in the organization of Democratic women, was an additional source of inspiration.
Thus, Pelosi was interested in politics from an early age, when she began helping her father with his campaign activities at a young age. Nancy Pelosi’s Career in Politics
In the 1960s, Nancy Pelosi began her own political career as an intern for Maryland Senator Daniel Brewster (D). The 5th District Congressman Phillip Burton became a close friend of hers when she moved to San Francisco in the 1980s. For the next 30 years, she served as a member of the Democratic National Committee from California, which she held until her retirement in 1996. Biden added that Joe Manchin, the Democratic West Virginia senator who opposes Build Back Better in its entirety, "strongly supports" these proposals. During a Yahoo Finance Live interview on Thursday, Biden's senior economic adviser added a couple of additional items to the mix that may become law in 2022. "The good news is that there is widespread support among Democrats and the American public" for four distinct sectors, according to Brian Deese, director of the White House National Economic Council. He argues that prescription medication coverage, health care, and child care, as well as investments in sustainable energy, are all on the table. Deese has been deeply engaged in the Build Back Better talks for months, often traveling to Capitol Hill to represent the White House while legislators labored for months to achieve an agreement. Climate ‘is a preference. Any piecemeal strategy taken in the months ahead would almost certainly need Senate reconciliation, which can be accomplished with just Democratic votes.
