New York Police Discover Soundproof Room in Gilgo Beach Murder Suspect's Home

At least one lady may have been murdered in a soundproof room supposedly discovered by authorities in the basement of the home of Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann. New York State Troopers and Suffolk County police have been searching the home of the accused murderer since his arrest earlier this month, and this fresh development in the inquiry was originally reported by The New York Post.

Pictures obtained by Fox News Digital show police searching Heuermann’s home in Massapequa Park, New York with earth penetrating equipment, a digger, and cadaver dogs on Sunday. All week long, police have been leaving Heuermann’s house with boxes full of potential evidence.

The 59-year-old architect is suspected in four murders; he has been charged with the deaths of three women. Heuermann’s lawyer, Michael Brown, claims his client denies involvement in the murders of the women.

Over the past few days, authorities have removed over 200 firearms, a huge doll in a glass case, a large painting of a woman with a bruised face, and a filing cabinet from Heuermann’s Massapequa Park house.

The tweet below verifies the news:

A desktop computer, a large picture frame, a mirror, and many other household objects were spotted being carted away by investigators earlier in the week, some of whom were dressed in “crime lab” T-shirts and protective jackets.

These accusations marked a stunning turn in what had been one of New York’s most mysterious cases. In 2010, while looking for a missing woman in the area of Long Island’s Gilgo Beach, authorities found ten different sets of human remains strewn throughout the length of the barrier island.

Eight ladies, one guy, and a toddler were among the fatalities. Authorities determined that it was highly unlikely that a single person was responsible for all of the murders, but that several of the bodies discovered in close proximity were likely the work of a serial killer.

Heuermann is charged with the murders of Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, and Melissa Barthelemy. Investigators are still looking into whether or not they may charge him with the killing of a fourth victim, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney.

The four ladies were all former prostitutes. Both of their bodies were discovered within a tenth of a mile of one other on Ocean Parkway. Heuermann had undeveloped land in South Carolina and a timeshare condo in Las Vegas, both of which have been investigated by investigators.

Shannan Gilbert, the missing lady whose disappearance spurred the search that led to the unexpected discovery of the Gilgo Beach remains in 2011, was discovered dead in a nearby coastal marsh the following year.

Her family has refused to accept the Suffolk Police Department’s ruling that she drowned accidently, believing instead that she was murdered.
