Nick McGlashan Cause of Death
Nick McGlashan, who was on the TV show DEADLIEST CATCH, “overdosed in a Nashville hotel bathroom while wearing a gray shirt and gray underwear after taking a toxic mix of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl,” according to an autopsy report that The Sun got first.
Nick, 33, a seventh-generation fisherman who had been addicted to drugs for a long time, died at a Holiday Inn on December 28. He had flown from Reddick, FL, to Nashville to meet friends.
Part of the report written by Nashville’s Center for Forensic Medicine’s Investigator Krista Hammonds says, “This 33-year-old man was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his hotel room.” It also says, “The decedent had a known history of using illegal drugs.”
The star, who was thought to be a father of two, was found dead with “a gray shirt and gray underwear” on.
The report says there was “drug paraphernalia nearby,” and forensic pathologist Dr. William McClain writes that Nick, whose legal first name was Bruce and whose race is listed as “American Indian,” “died from the toxic effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.”
The report says that doctors tried to bring him back to life with a defibrillator but failed.

Tributes to Nick McGlashan
In December, The Sun wrote about Nick’s sad death and how his friends felt about it.
He started working as a deck boss on The Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch in 2013 and did so for 78 episodes over the course of seven years.
He is thought to have two kids with Claire Hammond, the woman he has been with for a long time.
In his last tweet, on December 10, he said, “Trauma is making me fall asleep at random. Also, it wakes me up at odd times. Drive carefully.”
His drug use got him kicked off of Deadliest Catch for part of season 13.
Landon Cheney, who worked with Nick and was his friend, also wrote an emotional tribute to his “brother” on the day he died.
Landon wrote, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain because the old things are gone.”
“Behold, I am changing everything. Rest in peace, my brother. You are gone but not forgotten.”

Nick McGlashan’s Drug Addiction
Nick once said that when his drug use was at its worst, he was drinking a half gallon of vodka a day and taking one gram of meth and two grams of heroin.
After three times of taking too much, he went to rehab in September 2016.
He said, “My life went from being a badass in the Bering Sea to being a full-fledged addict very quickly. The love I had for life was hidden from me.
“They took away my chance to live. I was fighting against my addiction, but it was winning.”
He also said that his “mind, body, and spirit were so sick” that he “welcomed” his death.
He said, “It would be an understatement to say I was lost. I felt empty and broken. I had given up on ever being happy. All I wanted to do was stay full.
“A powerful, sneaky, and confusing disease took away every bit of happiness.”
The reality star said that he stayed sober by following a 12-step program, going to meetings, and working with a sponsor.
He had said that going to rehab was the “scariest” and “best” thing he had ever done.
Jake Harris, who used to work with Nick on the show Deadliest Catch, has also talked about his addiction problems.
Jake talked about his opiate addiction on the TV show Dr. Drew in 2011. He said he used to abuse pills while at sea.
Nick first went out to sea when he was 13 and started crabbing. He quickly moved up the ranks as a fisherman.
His great-uncle worked on the first boat in US crabbing records. Two of his aunts were also crabbers, and one of them died when their boat sank.
Nick died after the 38-year-old deckhand on Deadliest Catch, Mahlon Reyes, died of a heart attack in August of last year.
