Deputies in Jasper County are searching for “persons of interest” after a gunshot overnight at an after-prom party left nine teenagers injured.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a disturbance with shots fired at a residence north of Jasper along County Road 263 just after midnight.
Deputies arrived and discovered nine victims of gunshot wounds, ranging in age from 15 to 19 years old.
According to the news release, none of their injuries posed a threat to their lives.

According to the sheriff’s office, the majority of the injured were transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital before some were later moved to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Jasper County Chief Deputy Scott Duncan was quoted in the release as saying that deputies are still conducting their investigation and are looking for multiple “persons of interest” in relation to the incident.
