Phoenix Hiker Who Went Missing in Oregon is Found Dead From the Heat

The body of a missing hiker was found Friday night in north Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The body of Jessica Christine Lindstrom, 34, an Oregon native, was discovered in the Deem Hills Recreation Area near Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The fire department claims there is no cause for suspicion in the discovery of her death. The department reported earlier in the evening that Lindstrom had not been seen since Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., when she disappeared while hiking near North 51st Drive and West Deem Hills Parkway.

According to available data, Lindstrom was a nurse with roots in Peoria who was currently residing in Oregon. Although the official cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner, preliminary information suggests that Lindstrom was overtaken by the heat while hiking, as stated by Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Captain Scott Douglas.

The tweet below verifies the news:

Unfortunately, Ms. Lindstrom was in town from Oregon, where it doesn’t get this hot,” Douglas said to the Associated Press. Authorities in Oregon claimed that Lindstrom, originally from the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, was a registered nurse who was in the state to see relatives.

The state’s most populous county, Maricopa, stated on July 29 that 39 heat-related deaths had already been documented this year, with another 312 deaths still being investigated. There were 42 verified heat-related deaths in the county a year ago at this time, with another 282 cases still being investigated.
