Police investigating dog attack in death of Kentucky woman

A woman who was killed by dogs in McCreary County is being looked into by the police.

The woman was named Wilma Ridner by McCreary County Coroner Tim Corder. She was 61 years old.

The death happened on Slab Vanover Road, which is off KY 90 in the Parkers Lake neighborhood. Ridner was a local resident. Corder said that cops told his office about the death at about 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Corder said that it was still not clear what killed Ridner. On Thursday, an autopsy was being done at the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.

Corder said that the autopsy will help find out if something happened to Ridner before the dogs bit her.

Corder said that the probe was being done by the Kentucky State Police and the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office.

McCreary County Sheriff David Sampson told the Herald-Leader that the attack was done by at least four dogs. Sampson said that those four dogs were put down. He said that two other dogs might have been involved as well.

The tweet below confirms the news:

Sampson said that the dogs were from the neighborhood.

This is the second death in McCreary County that was caused by a dog in the past few years.

In July 2017, four dogs attacked and killed Vinson Tucker, who was 79 years old.

At the time, a state police officer said that the dogs had been seen walking around the neighborhood, but that they hadn’t caused any problems before the attack.
