Rand Paul Staffer Stabbed in D.C.

A member of Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) congressional staff was attacked in Washington, D.C. over the weekend, and authorities have announced they have a suspect in custody.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced in a press release that an arrest had been made in connection with a Saturday incident that occurred in the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast.

After receiving a report of a stabbing at the given address, responding officers found a person who had been stabbed. The person was subsequently sent to a nearby hospital for emergency care of his or her critical injuries.

Paul issued a statement in which he identified the victim of the stabbing as a member of his congressional staff.

“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions,Paul said in a statement on Monday.

“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested,” Paul added. “At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.”
