Meisner was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on March 8, 1946. He was the second child of Herman and Emilie Meisner, who ran the family farm and worked as farmers, raising maize, beans, alfalfa, and sugar beets. His four grandparents were all immigrants from the Volga German region. Meisner and his older sister Emilie grew up working on the family farm.

When he was ten years old, he started taking guitar lessons and became interested in playing in local bands. One of his professors at Scottsbluff High School suggested that he start studying bass while he was a student there. Meisner found the transition simple because he loved R&B and Motown music, and he frequently played bass parts that he made up as he went along with other musicians.

The musician died on 26th July, 2023 at the age of 77.

An American musician and songwriter named Randy Meisner had a $15 million dollar net worth at the time of his death. Before moving to California in the middle of the 1960s to perform with a band named The Poor, Randy Meisner started his career as a professional musician with a small-town band in Nebraska.

He then started playing with the band Poco. He experienced his first modest level of success in music with Poco, but after largely working as a session musician, he moved back to Nebraska to be with his family. He was persuaded to move back to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, and he started playing with Linda Ronstadt’s band as soon as he got there.

Together with Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Bernie Leadon, who were also members of Linda Ronstadt’s supporting band, he founded the Eagles in the fall of 1971.

The Eagles eventually achieved enormous success as a band. Before going back to Nebraska to be with his family, he performed with the group for the first six years, penning and recording some of their most well-known songs. Since then, he has had a marginally prosperous solo career.

Randy Meisner’s Personal Life

Randy Meisner has had two marriages. He wed Jennifer Lee Barton, his high school sweetheart, in 1963. In the same year, the two gave birth to a son; twins followed in 1970. The couple decided to be divorced in 1981 after nearly 20 years of marriage.

Then Meisner started dating Lana Rae. They wed in November 1996 after dating for 12 years, and remained together until her passing in 2016.

Strange things happened throughout the last few years of their marriage and also after Lana Rae passed away. Meisner’s battle with alcoholism was well documented during his tenure with the Eagles. His physical and mental health gradually declined after he left the organization, and he made many suicide threats.

There were rumors that Meisner was being taken advantage of by Lana Rae, who encouraged him to drink so he wouldn’t be aware of his financial situation. Meisner’s buddy once submitted documents asking to have him placed under a court-supervised conservatorship, but this was ultimately rejected.

Police were called to Meisner and Lana Rae in March 2016. While handling a rifle, Lana Rae inadvertently shot and killed herself. Meisner was located in another area of the home at the time, according to security footage. Due to his prior mental health difficulties, Meisner was put under psychiatric detention after the incident.
