Two would-be robbers were caught on camera in the act of trying to steal an automated teller machine from the Safe Credit Union on Watt Avenue in North Sacramento. The event took place at around 6:15 a.m. on August 2nd, a Wednesday. They had a detailed strategy that comprised a white pickup truck and a forklift, but luck was not on their side.
Surveillance footage shows a white pickup truck expertly reversing up to an ATM as another guy pulls up with a forklift. The forklift driver skillfully slammed the ATM, knocking it over, but it was just the beginning of their tragedy.
They tried and tried to get the ATM into the back of the truck, but they were unable until they found a way to secure it. As the vehicle sped away with the stolen ATM, it appeared for a brief moment that they had successfully made their getaway. But destiny has a surprise in store for the villains.

Their stolen goods spilled out of the back of the truck and landed in the middle of Watt Avenue as the two daring thieves made their getaway. Unfortunately for them, the ATM was undamaged, so they couldn’t get their hands on the money they were after.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation into the crime right once, but the two perpetrators escaped unharmed, leaving the scene in shock at their bad luck.
The attempted ATM heist is a cautionary tale that shows how easily the best-laid plans may go awry, leaving the culprits with nothing and the police hard on their heels. As officials continue their search for the audacious thieves responsible for this bizarre heist, the neighborhood maintains a heightened state of vigilance.
