On Saturday night, a man was stabbed to death in a Davis park. This is the second stabbing death in a city park in the past four days, and police are trying to figure out if the two deaths are connected.
The Davis Police Department said that just after 9 p.m., a person who lived near Sycamore Park heard a noise outside. When the resident of Sycamore Lane and Colby Drive went outside, they saw a guy who had been stabbed multiple times and called 911.
Officers and firefighters found the victim, who was a guy in his early 20s and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a news release on Sunday morning.
Authorities are looking for a guy between the ages of 19 and 23 who is between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 8 inches tall and who may have killed someone on Saturday. Police said the suspect was “a light-skinned man, possibly Hispanic,” with “long, curly, loose hair.” The last time they saw him, he was wearing a white hat, a light-colored T-shirt under a button-up shirt, and a light-colored T-shirt over that. Police think the suspect was riding a straight-handled men’s bike.

Is There a Link to the Stabbing in Central Park?
Police said they are also looking into whether this has anything to do with the stabbing death of David Henry Breaux, a 50-year-old man who was known as the “Compassion Guy” and was often seen in Central Park. Thursday, his body was found in the park downtown.
In a city statement, Davis Mayor Will Arnold said, “David Breaux’s death is completely and utterly heartbreaking.” “We all knew David. He and I talked. We agreed with him that the world should be better.”

At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Davis Phoenix Coalition will hold a vigil for Breaux at “Compassion Corner” at Third and C streets next to the park. The “Compassion Bench” can be found in the corner. In 2013, Breaux was a big part of making and putting in the bench.
Both murders are still being looked into, but police officials wanted people to know that “everything we have will be used to make sure our community is safe.”
Friday, police said that more officers will be on foot and bike watch in the downtown corridor and Central Park areas to make it clear that police are there.
