After 11 years of marriage, “Charmed” and “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Shannen Doherty has asked for a divorce from her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, her rep says.
“Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted,” publicist Leslie Sloane said in an email Saturday. “Unfortunately, she thought she had no choice but to do it.”
Doherty, who is now 52 years old, said early in 2020 that she was fighting a recurrence of breast cancer that had reached stage four. She called it “a bitter pill to swallow.”
“There are days when I ask myself, ‘Why me?’ Then I think, “Why not me?” Who else? Who else needs this besides me?’ Doherty told “Good Morning America” that none of us do.

The actress said she had breast cancer for the first time in 2015, and she has been keeping track of her fight against it on social media.
Doherty didn’t talk about the split on Instagram, but she did write on Friday, “The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness, and total respect.”
In October 2021, a federal jury in Los Angeles found in favor of Doherty in a case that said her insurance company, State Farm, didn’t pay enough to fix the damage to her house caused by a wildfire in California in 2018. The jury said that not paying the policy benefits for Doherty’s Malibu home was “unreasonable and without proper cause.”
Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, said in her statement that Iswarienko’s lawyer, Collier Grimm, should be called for more information. Grimm did not answer right away when asked for a statement.
