2 Police Officers Were Killed During a Traffic Stop in Barron County

Cameron Police Officer Hunter Scheel was one of two Wisconsin law enforcement officers killed over the weekend in Barron County. On April 8, police officer Scheel, age 23, and civilian Emily Breidenbach, age 32, were both shot and killed.

According to a press release from the Cameron Police Department, Sheel has been with the force since 2022 and previously spent six years in the National Guard. “Since being employed at the Cameron Police Department, Hunter has been a dedicated officer and was very passionate about his job,” the release said.

His Facebook tribute was written by his lover Camryn Gosdeck, who praised him for being a loyal companion who never failed to lift her spirits when she was feeling blue.

We had so much planned for our future and looked forward to growing old with one another. Because of this, I am absolutely heartbroken and never knew I could feel such an immense pain as having my other half ripped from me. My heart hurts for him, for his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him,” she wrote.

On Monday, a law enforcement procession will transport the bodies of both policemen from the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office to the funeral homes where they will be laid to rest. There will be an officer by each officer’s side for the duration of the services.

“Our love and condolences go out to both families and all those with whom they served. We, as a law enforcement family will do everything possible to continue to provide support and comfort to Hunter and Emily’s families. They will be missed by everyone,” the release said.
