Around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, a twin-turboprop DeHavilland DHC-6 aircraft crashed in the water close to Half Moon Bay, according to the authorities. The FAA reported that the plane had taken off from Santa Rosa, California, and was en route to Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the event took place roughly 40 miles offshore.
