The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says that a student was hurt in a fight at a high school in Columbia on Tuesday morning.
In a news statement, the sheriff’s office said that the fight took place at Ridge View High School. The Richland 2 school is near the corner of Hard Scrabble Road and Summit Parkway.
According to the statement, the hurt student was taken to a hospital in the area. Ishmael Tate, a spokesman for Richland 2, told The State that the fight left the student with stab wounds.
Tate said the student was awake when EMS took him or her to the hospital. There was no other information about the student’s state.
Tate says that two kids took part in the fight. Tate said that the other kid left the high school.
The sheriff’s office hasn’t made any arrests yet, but they are still looking into the fight.
No one said anything about what started the fight.
Tate says that Ridge View High was put on secure status and that it is still on secure status as of 12:30 p.m.
