A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Independence on Saturday.
According to a tweet from Independence police, officers went to a house in the 1100 block of South Cottage Avenue around 3:30 p.m. and found the teen outside with a gunshot wound.
The boy was given medical care at the scene and taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police say that several people who were at the spot are helping with the investigation.

Detectives are still talking to witnesses and people involved in the case to find out what led up to the killing.
