Police Say Teenagers Are in Custody After a Baltimore T-mobile Employee Was Fatally Shot

A spokeswoman for the Baltimore Police Department said Thursday that an 18-year-old and a 14-year-old were detained and charged in connection with the deadly shooting of a cellular phone store clerk on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, two masked men entered the T-Mobile store on Boston Street, demanded money, and shot Fabian Alberto Sanchez Gonzalez, an employee, according to the police. On Monday, 23-year-old Gonzalez passed away from his wounds at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Detective Donny Moses, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department, confirmed that Arthur McCaden was taken into custody on Thursday. Later on Thursday night, police said in a press statement that they had also arrested a 14-year-old kid in connection with the shooting.

McCaden has been charged with first-degree murder, according to police, although his case has not yet been uploaded to the court’s electronic database. It’s not totally apparent if he has legal counsel. In Maryland, juvenile court records are often sealed.

Cohen revealed his communication with the city’s State’s Attorney’s Office and Gonzalez’s family in a tweet on Thursday.

In his words, “Fabian touched a lot of lives,” Cohen. “May God bless his memory.” Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and St. Ignatius Loyola Academy in Baltimore announced this week on social media that the 23-year-old retail clerk was a graduate of both schools.

They said on social media, “He had so much life left to live.” His Federal Hill school reported. After being closed since the incident, the T-Mobile store in Canton is set to reopen next week, according to company officials.
