Monday, Branch County Circuit Court gave Jeremy Tomlinson, 41, of Three Rivers, a sentence of 37 months to 15 years in prison for his 10th DUI offense.
Tomlinson admitted to a felony charge of driving under the influence of drink for the fourth time.
Prosecutor Zack Stempien said, “Mr. Tomlinson just doesn’t get that you can’t drive a car when you’re drunk.”
In 2001, Tomlinson was caught driving drunk for the first time in Calhoun County. For his ninth sentence, he was given parole in November 2021. Before he can start this new sentence, he still has to serve the rest of the 18-month to 10-year sentence he got in 2017 from the St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
Stempien said, “If you look at his criminal record, I think the longest time he’s ever spent in jail is 19 months. This almost doubles that jail time.”
On Feb. 15, Michigan State Police found Tomlinson asleep at the wheel of his car in a yard near U.S. 12. He had no gas in his car.
The woman who lived in the house on Airview Drive called her son at midnight to tell him about the strange car in her driveway. He dialed 9-1-1.
Before that, a man from Three Rivers was nabbed for driving drunk for the tenth time.
Troopers said Tomlinson was unsteady on his feet and had trouble answering easy questions.
