At least two people were killed in McClain County, Oklahoma, late on Wednesday, as strong thunderstorms and tornadoes moved through parts of the Central U.S.
McClain County Emergency Management said in a Facebook post that at least two people died because of the weather and that crews were called to help several people who were hurt and stuck in their homes. They asked people to stay away from the affected areas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) had warned that strong thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes were possible in parts of the Central U.S., such as Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa, on Wednesday and into the night.

The NWS said that Thursday morning and afternoon could have strong thunderstorms that could bring dangerous weather.
As of early Thursday, the website said that almost 20,000 people in Oklahoma still didn’t have power because of the storms.
This happened a few weeks after a tornado killed five people in southern Missouri. Last month, a tornado was caused by an earlier round of thunderstorms. It ripped through the town of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, destroying many of its 400 homes and killing 26 people.
