Norah Horwitz, 36, was in front of a judge in Virginia Beach on Monday morning. She was charged with cutting her father, Dr. Abbey Horwitz, to death.
Norah was arrested on Saturday and charged with second-degree murder and stabbing in the commission of a crime. Police in Virginia Beach say she is in the process of transitioning.
A short statement from the VBPD says that officers went to a call for help at a home on Wren Place in the Birdneck Point neighborhood just before 9 a.m. on Saturday. Officers say that’s where they found 68-year-old Dr. Horwitz with several stab wounds. First rescuers said he was dead just after 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Dr. Horwitz was the President of the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater and the President of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, according to the website for his Virginia Beach office, The Art of Dentistry.
The United Jewish Federation of Tidewater was contacted by News 3. They said, “Dr. Horwitz was a great guy, and we’ll give his family the privacy they want at this time.”
People who work in the shops next to The Art of Dentistry said that the loss will be felt all over the town.
“Since I was eight years old, he has been my doctor. He was also a big part of how we got started here, you know. “He jumped right in, gave us advice, and came to our grand opening without us even asking,” said Michele Nielsen, the owner of a nearby business.
Michael Maugeri, the owner of a nearby business, said, “He showed us how to be a good boss and a good person.”
On Monday, Dr. Horwitz’s office was closed out of sadness. People who were there said that Dr. Horwitz was a kind man who would go out of his way to help others.
The news release from Virginia Beach police on Sunday didn’t say anything about a possible motive or any of the “probable cause” proof that police used to get arrest warrants from a judge.

Norah said in court that she worked as a dishwasher and that the judge had given her a public attorney. She is being kept in the Virginia Beach Jail right now.
On Tuesday morning, there will be a hearing about her bond.
