On Tuesday, the school district and a source close to the instructor confirmed that the Virginia educator who was shot by a 6-year-old pupil this year would not be returning to the campus when classes resumed.
Abigail Zwerner is “not coming back in the fall” when kids at Newport News Public Schools and Richneck Elementary School return from summer break, the source added. The close associate of Zwerner who was not permitted to talk publicly on the topic sought anonymity.
