The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is looking into a murder that happened early Sunday morning in east Charlotte.
Around 11 a.m., the investigation took place on Southwood Oaks Lane. At the scene, a woman was pronounced dead. No one knows what caused her death.
A news crew from Channel 9 was at the scene, where CMPD patrol cars filled the parking lot of the complex, and crime scene tape surrounded the area where officers were looking into what happened.
Officers who were there say that they went to the apartments on Sunday around 10 a.m. and found the woman dead.

“Through our investigation, we were able to find a person of interest. “Right now, we’re not looking for any suspects,” said Major J.D. Thomas.
Police said that they have a suspect in custody and that the victim knew the suspect.
Glenn Conts of Channel 9 heard from neighbors that they heard arguing coming from the apartment late Saturday night, but they did not expect to wake up to a murder.
Demon Reid, who has lived at the apartment complex for 20 years, told Counts that he was shocked by what happened.
“To be honest, this has never happened before in this neighborhood. “I’ve never seen a lot of police activity about deaths or murders like these,” Reid said.
Authorities haven’t said anything about a possible reason or who the suspect or victim is.
