The woman who was caught and accused of shooting an Uber driver in El Paso because she thought she was going to Mexico was described in more detail.
Officers arrested Phoebe Copas, who is 48 years old and lives in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
Friday, the accident happened on US Highway 54.
Copas told the cops that she shot the driver because she thought she was going to Mexico instead of where she asked to go.
Jonathan Mejia writes about a woman who shot an Uber driver because she thought she was going to be taken to Mexico and held a picture of the hurt driver.
When police got to the scene, they said they saw Copas’ boyfriend helping her out of the Nissan.
Officers said that Copas also dropped everything she was holding, including the brown and silver weapon, on the ground.
Daniel Piedra Garcia, who is 52 years old, was named as the Uber driver.
Witnesses were also seen looking into the car by the police. Officers said they saw the victim with a cut on his head and a lot of blood coming out of it.
Copas told the cops that she was in El Paso to see her boyfriend and that after he got off work, they were going to meet at Speaking Rock Casino.
Copas got an Uber driver to pick her up in West El Paso and take her to the casino. He paid for the ride.
The arrest document says that while Copas was being driven to the casino, she saw a sign that said “Juarez, Mexico.” This made her think that the Uber driver was trying to kidnap her and take her to Juarez.

The paper said that Copas then grabbed the gun and shot the driver, which caused the car to crash on the highway.
The paper said that the place where the car crashed was not near a bridge, port of entry, or any other place that made it easy to go to Mexico right away.
According to the document, Copas never called 911 to report the event.
The paper also said that Copas took a picture of the Uber driver after he was shot and texted it to her boyfriend before calling 911.
Garcia is still in the hospital with serious injuries to his head and hand and is on life support.
Copas was arrested and charged with Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Police said that she was put in the El Paso County Detention Facility with a $1,000,000 bond.
About the shooting, Uber sent out the following statement:
“We are shocked by what the rider did. Violence is not allowed on the Uber platform, so as soon as we found out what happened, we banned the rider. We are thinking about Mr. Garcia and his family, and we have talked to them. Our Public Safety Team is ready to help the cops whenever they need it.”
