Crime in Gainesville

According to GPD crime records, Saturday’s shooting was the fourth death in the city this year.

Last week, police went to the City Commission to talk about violent crime data. No murders were reported the year before, and only one was reported in 2021.

Even though there have been more serious crimes in the city in the last four years, property crimes like burglary and theft have gone down.
