SAN FRANCISCO – A fatal shooting occurred at the intersection of Catalina Street and Fairfax Avenue, just before 3 p.m., where two plainclothes officers were in the process of arresting a man, according to a statement from the San Francisco Police Department.
During the arrest, another man attempted to intervene with the officers, prompting a response from a marked patrol car with two additional officers rushing to the scene to assist, as detailed in the police report.
Upon confronting the second man, the police stated that he appeared to be armed with a firearm. In response to the perceived threat, the officers from the patrol car fired shots at the individual. Following the shooting, the officers provided medical aid to the wounded man.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and promptly transported the injured man to a nearby hospital. Despite the life-saving efforts made by medical staff, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Notably, the deceased individual was not connected to the initial arrest made by the plainclothes officers, leaving authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the subsequent confrontation with the second man.
The San Francisco Police Department has not released details on the specific reason for the initial arrest.
