In a newly released footage from 2021, an officer in Iowa can be seen clinging to the hood of a car as the driver attempts to flee. The Carroll Police Department’s body camera footage of the March 5, 2021 incident was released after the driver was given a five-year prison sentence for his role in the incident.
Officer Patrick McCarty reportedly informed Dennis Guider Jr., a passenger in the car, that an arr*st warrant had been issued for him in Illinois, as reported by KCCI-TV in Des Moines.
Guider took up the driving duties when the previous driver exited the vehicle. The cop reached for his gun. McCarty hopped on the hood of the speeding automobile as other police officers arrived. The cop is heard shouting at the motorist, “Stop the f—ing car!”

When the car hit a ditch, McCarty was thrown from it and sustained a broken back, according to the news source. After being apprehended, Guider pled guilty to causing great bodily harm using a motor vehicle. He said he thought McCarty was going to sh*ot him when he brought out his revolver.
Guider wrote to the Carroll County clerk of court in February, expressing concern for his life after the cop “pulled out his gun and jumped on the hood of my car,” as reported by the Des Moines Register.
