Mario Rosario Sentenced to Probation in Bronx Scooter Crash That Killed 4-year-old Son

A father found out Thursday what would happen to him after his 4-year-old son died in a scooter accident last year.

A plea deal gave Mario Rosario probation and 500 hours of community service.

In August, he was riding a bike in the Bronx with his son, who wasn’t wearing a helmet. They hit a car.

At the hospital, the child, who was also called Mario, died.

Thursday, the family spoke in court about how the crime had affected them and how they wanted a harsher term.

The tweet below verifies the news:

“I told him I hated him and hoped nothing good would happen to him. Jennifer Adorno, the child’s grandmother, said, “He took my only grandchild away from me.”

“It’s clear that this father has been through a lot, and no amount of jail time or anything else will make up for that,” Rosario’s lawyer, Ali Benchakroun, said.

The driver of the car was also charged with driving with a license that had been taken away.
