On Friday, a Pennsylvania man who worked as a counselor at Camp Bernie in the Port Murray section of Lebanon Township was sentenced to seven years in state jail for three counts of second-degree S*xual assault.
Joshua F. Daranijo, 24, of Levittown, pleaded guilty in front of Superior Court Judge Angela F. Borkowski on January 25 to three counts of second-degree s*xual assault by contact and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for having items that showed the s*xual exploitation of a child, said Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson.
Daranijo had admitted in court that, while working at the YMCA camp, he had s*xual contact with three children under the age of 13 and had information about child s*xual abuse.
Under the No Early Release Act of the state, he must serve 85% of his term before he can be released on parole. Megan’s Law says that when Daranijo gets out of prison, he will have to sign up as a s*x offender and be under parole control for the rest of his life.
The Special Victims Unit of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office did an investigation, which led to Daranijo being charged.

Borkowski also gave Mattheu Goncalves, 24, of Clinton Township, a six-year sentence at the state’s Adult Diagnostic & Treatment Center for s*x offenders. Goncalves was charged with second-degree manufacturing/filming child s*xual abuse material.
Goncalves pleaded guilty on October 21, 2022. Because of Megan’s Law, he will have to register as a s*x offender and be subject to parole control for the rest of his life.
