York County sheriff officers say a man from Rock Hill has been charged with killing someone with a gun on Friday.
Sheriff Kevin Tolson told The Herald on Saturday morning that Stephen Josiah Brooks, 34, of Rock Hill, was charged with murder by deputies.
Trent Faris, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said that the shooting happened late Friday afternoon on Faires Road, which is off of McConnells Highway.
It is to the southeast of Rock Hill.
The York County Coroner has not yet given out the name of the person who died
Online jail records show that Brooks was taken to the York County jail and charged with murder. He is being held there without bail.
As the probe continues, the police haven’t said anything else about the shooting.
