Serena Williams Emergency Treatment: Hematoma

In breaking celebrity sports news, tennis star Serena Williams received emergency “treatement” yesterday for a blood clot in her lungs. It was first reported by People magazine, who were notified by Nicole Chabot, Serena’s spokesperson. The treatment was for a hematoma resulting form a pulmonary embolism Serena Williams suffered last week.

It’s always kind of scary when a 29 year old elite athlete suffers a hematoma and pulmonary embolism! If she can have these kinds of issues, what are the rest us beer guzzling, tv watching slackers going to experience in terms of medical problems down the road??

This is just a long line of problems to plague Serena Williams, who hasn’t played an official match since winning Wimbledon last year on July 3, 2010. She’s had plenty of injuries and even a cut foot from glass in a restaurant to deal with over the year, and has only practiced occassionally since September.

Not that she’s hurting for money, with all her other business and fashion empires to tide her over…
