Friday the 13th: Are You Feeling Lucky?

Friday the 13th, is one day that many people consider an unlucky day and occurs only one to three times a year. No one knows for sure how Friday the 13th became associated with bad luck but there are some theories. One such theory is that on Friday the 13th, Eve made an offering of an apple to Adam which got them kicked out of the Garden of Eden by God.

Being realistic, it is more the number thirteen that people find unlucky, and for some odd reason, they decided to pick Friday, attach the number thirteen and call that particular day unlucky. Looking at all the buildings and even some airplanes, there is no 13th floor or row 13 on the plane. There are even some people so superstitious about the number thirteen that if they have to make a payment with dollars and thirteen cents, they will round it up to the next dollar. Some will not accept thirteen of anything. It either has to be twelve or fourteen.

There is a rumor that the number thirteen became part of a superstition because in early times, when primitive men were learning to count, they counted to ten on their fingers, and instead of counting toes to make a total of twenty, they counted the feet as two, which had them only able to count to twelve. What came after twelve was a complete mystery to them thus it became something akin to a superstition.

Do you consider the number thirteen to be unlucky?
