Chocolate lovers had reasons to be happy these days. This developed after a recent study has shown that eating chocolate could offer protection against heart disease and stroke. Despite this latest medical development, medical experts however warned chocolate lovers to eat in moderation. The medical experts said eating too much chocolate could lead to weight gain and diabetes.
To get the latest data, researchers compared the people with the highest chocolate consumption against those with the lowest consumption. Those who ate lots of chocolate were linked to a lower risk of heart disease. The study also showed that eating chocolate resulted in the 37 percent reduction in cardiovascular disease and a 29 percent reduction in stroke.
The latest study pertains to all kinds of chocolates, dark or milk chocolate, and included consumption of chocolate bars, drinks, biscuits and desserts. Chocolate are raw or processed food produced from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. According to reports, Cacao has been cultivated for at least three millennia in Mexico, Central and South America, with its earliest documented use around 1100 BC.
