Evacuations at Brownsville, Texas Gulf Port

Evacuations at Brownsville, Texas Gulf PortOn Monday seven business that were downwind of a propane gas leak were evacuated for several hours. The leak occurred at the Port of Brownsville near the southern tip of Texas. There were problems with a valve that was connected to a tank. This cause approximately fifty seven thousand gallons of propane gas to leak into the air. The tank that leaked holds ninety thousand gallons of propane gas.

There were also several highways nearby that were shut down as they worked to stop the flammable gas from flowing into the air any more than it already had. At this time there has been no known cause for the leak and they also did not know how may people had to be evacuated. There was one worker who suffered minor injuries.
