At Penn State two doctors have created a new app for iPhone users that drink a lot of coffee, and it is free to download. This new app will optimize your caffeine intake during the day so you do not stay awake at night from having too much caffeine in your system.
This free app is titled “Caffeine Zone” and was created by doctors Kuo-Chuan Yeh and Frank Ritter. For mental alertness they assumed that a person should have an optimal limit of two to four hundred milligrams of caffeine a day. When you use the app, it will estimate the level of caffeine in your blood stream. It can do this at any time the user chooses and will help you know when it is time to have another cup of coffee.
On this app, there are two different key caffeine zones. There is a green bar, which shows the optimal two to four hundred milligram range and there is also a blue bar that ranges from zero to fifty milligram. This blue bar represents the amount of caffeine that should be in your blood stream before you get ready to go to bed and go to sleep.
