On Tuesday, the 25-year-old man accused of shooting a 13-year-old in a drive-by in December pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder. Two people, Prince Holland’s 21-year-old coach, and another youngster, were shot and killed in this incident; the second suspect is Kentrevious Garard.
Holland, along with his football coach and three other guys, were heading home in an SUV when they were suddenly opened fire upon by another vehicle. According to Sheriff T.K. Waters, Garard “pulled the trigger,” while Marcel Johnson, 22, was behind the wheel. Both have been charged with something.
Bond has been denied for Garard’s detention. On April 5, he’ll be back in court. According to Waters, the football league was unrelated to the shooting.
“The car was targeted. It was callous. They didn’t care who they shot in the car, didn’t matter,” Waters said.
Johnson was arrested in early January and was later charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and discharge of a firearm or deadly weapon. The inquiry into Holland’s case is ongoing.

The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended Garard in Orange County. An arrest report acquired by News4JAX indicates that Garard was arrested in June 2022 following a drug raid at a Northside residence on allegations of armed drug trafficking.
The charges were eventually dropped, though. Given that the defendant was not in physical possession of any contraband at the time of his detention, and since the state had difficulty proving “knowledge and dominion and control,” the state was unable to prove that the defendant had any knowledge of the contraband beyond the possibility of proximity, as indicated by the disposition statement.
