A 38-year-old man in police custody died over the weekend, according to the NYPD.
The man was found in a cell at the Midtown South precinct on West 35th Street around 2:00 p.m. Saturday, but he was not awake or moving.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Sources told CBS2 that he was in jail because he was accused of hitting his wife.
The medical examiner will figure out why the person died.
