At approximately 1:16 a.m. on Sunday, emergency personnel responded to a call about a vehicle accident at East Riverside Drive and Alameda Drive intersection. Upon arrival, they were told that there had been a collision involving two vehicles and that a person was pinned inside one of them.
The Austin-Travis County EMS initially stated that five patients were involved in the accident but later tweeted that the number had been expanded to eight.
ATCEMS reported that the individual trapped inside the vehicle had been freed. At first, the hospital received two adults: one with critical, life-threatening injuries and the other with possibly serious injuries. Both of these adults were later pronounced dead.
A further update provided by ATCEMS stated that two other adults were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
According to ATCEMS, the other four patients who were involved in the collision suffered only minor injuries and declined to be transported to the hospital by EMS.
