Another suspect has been arrested in connection with a death threat against Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood that was posted on the online platform 4chan.
Tyler Meyer, a 30-year-old man from California, was picked up by the San Diego Police Department at his home on Friday.
In an anonymous post on 4chan’s “Politically Incorrect” board, Meyer said, “It’s too bad that Mike Chitwood isn’t safe now that I’m planning to kill him. Mike Chitwood is going to get shot. I’m going to kill him by shooting him.”
The FBI tracked down the threat and found Meyer, who at first wouldn’t say that he had posted it.
However, after being shown an image of the post, he ultimately confessed to writing it.
Multiple firearms, ammunition, and electronics were seized from his residence.
International Speedway Boulevard is open again after a crash that killed 3 people and hurt 2 others.
Meyer has been charged with threatening to kill or hurt someone in writing, which is a second-degree felony with a $100,000 bond.
He is being held in San Diego until he can be sent to Volusia County.
After Chitwood spoke out against neo-Nazi hate groups and their allies who recently attacked Volusia County and other places in Florida, he received several messages that were either threatening or annoying.
