Two suspects have been caught and two are still at large after a crime spree that spanned two states, according to police in Wilmington, Delaware. On multiple occasions on Friday, suspects allegedly conducted or attempted carjackings by deliberately rear-ending drivers in an effort to get them out of their vehicles, according to the police.
The first incident took place near Talleyville at the intersection of Thompson’s Bridge Road and Guyen Court Road at 6:43 a.m. Police in Delaware said that a black Jeep rear-ended a motorist, but the suspects got away. Police say the victim suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transferred to a local hospital.
A second incident occurred at approximately 7:10 a.m. along Creek Road in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, which is located just across the Delaware state line. A female motorist was allegedly rear-ended by the same suspects. After the crash, the woman headed into Delaware to have a look at what was left.
She allegedly got out of her car, but one of the suspects threatened her with a gun, and she was driven back into Pennsylvania.
“The second suspect followed the victim’s vehicle back into Pennsylvania, where the victim was ultimately s*xually assaulted. The victim was able to escape from the suspects and call 911 with the assistance of a nearby resident,” police said in a news release.
Police say they caught a glimpse of the fugitives when they met with two more men in a red Nissan Pathfinder in the parking lot of a convenience store in Delaware. The back Jeep’s suspects eluded the cops after a brief pursuit. At around 9:27 a.m., police said they were aware of a second collision involving two suspects in a red Nissan Pathfinder.
