Authorities reported that a shooting early on Sunday outside a Houston club left at least one person dead and four others hurt.
In the parking area of “some type of club/bar,” “over 50 rounds were fired,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a press conference.
Five people had been shot when police arrived at the scene of the shooting at around two in the morning, according to Gonzalez. The victims were all treated in hospitals.
He said that one individual had passed away and that investigators were still figuring out how badly the four victims were hurt. According to Gonzalez, two men and three women may have been shot.
He stated, “It appears like approximately 50 rounds were fired here, which is a really frightening situation given that there is a mobile food truck and… the number of customers who were outside.”
Gonzalez noted that although the information that the authorities received was “preliminary,” the shooting looks to have been a drive-by shooting.
He continued, “We think there might have been a car that pulled up just about two in the morning. There were several people in the car when they exited it and started firing at the clubgoers who were standing outside at the time.
Authorities stated that homicide investigators are looking into the shooting and looking for witnesses.
