On Thursday night, three people were shot in the city’s northside, and police are still looking into the incident. Two victims were reported shot at the corner of Lake Avenue and West Ridge Road at around 5:40 p.m., prompting police to dispatch to the area.
They came to find that a 21-year-old woman had been shot multiple times in the upper torso and had been brought to Strong Hospital. The second victim, a young male of 18, was similarly shot multiple times in the upper torso.
A third victim, a man aged 18, was dropped off at Rochester General Hospital while police were still on the scene. The three victims are all receiving treatment for injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
According to preliminary investigations, the group was in a car that had stopped at a red light when another car drove up and started shooting. Both of the occupants of the ambushed vehicle walked away unscathed.
No one has been taken into custody at this time, however anyone with information is urged to contact 911. The traffic light at the intersection of Lake Avenue and W. Ridge Road is now green.
