According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot and killed by law police on Saturday night. According to a press statement from the sheriff’s office, at 10:46 p.m., dispatchers got a call about a domestic disturbance in the 1900 block of County Trunk Highway CC in Star Prairie Township.
The caller claimed her “out-of-control” spouse had threatened to bring out a firearm. The caller was located outside the residence by St. Croix County deputies and New Richmond police officers. According to the sheriff’s office, the caller told officers that her husband and two children were inside the house.
Law enforcement officers observed the man via a window and attempted to communicate with him while he was in possession of a hunting gun. According to the press release, the individual made threatening statements to police and then left the house armed with a firearm in an attempt to confront the cops.

A deputy from St. Croix County and an officer from New Richmond both opened fire. According to the sheriff’s office, the individual was hit and killed instantly. The incident had no other casualties. A 42-year-old local of New Richmond, Wisconsin has been named as the suspect.
The matter will be investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and then forwarded to the St. Croix District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Both the deputy and the officer have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation and review continue.
