An adolescent from Glynn County was admitted to the intensive care unit following what appears to be a hazing incident. On Tuesday, the teen was brought to the emergency hospital while unconscious. The authorities claimed they found evidence of drug and alcohol use.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to cover Trent Lehrkamp’s medical expenses, the teenager was tortured, humiliated, and abused. Since his loved ones and law enforcement officials have already gone public with his name, News4JAX has decided to include it.
The Glynn County Police said the incident began at a St. Simons Island house party on Tuesday night. Three other teenagers brought the 19-year-old to the hospital, but they left before police arrived. There have been no reported arrests.
According to the GoFundMe, the teen was initially placed on a ventilator because he was only breathing at a rate of six breaths per minute. On Sunday night, the website updated readers on his condition, writing that he is now awake and stable but is still fighting a lung infection. His extreme anxiety and panic were also mentioned.

Theawanza Brooks, expressing the outrage of the community, called for a prayer vigil to be held in support of the teen and his family.
To paraphrase what Brooks said, “Anytime there’s any horrific situation that happens in any community that’s an opportunity for the community to come together and not only just be a part of something that’s supportive but to come together as a whole,”
Brooks and others who spoke to New4JAX expressed concern that the police department was trying to conceal details of the inquiry.
“There are a lot of big names that are involved with the children who are involved. Their parents are business owners. So, they try to keep a lot of the spot light off anything that happens over there,” she said.
At 7:45 p.m., the vigil will begin. The rally will begin at the Big Lots on Altama Avenue, and then will caravan to the Southeast Georgia Health System for the vigil.
