Over 90 minutes after the university issued a warning that an active shooter was present on Friday, authorities said that the University of Oklahoma’s campus in the city of Norman is safe and that there is no danger to the neighborhood.
Eric Foster, a trooper with the Oklahoma State Highway Patrol, told that the campus is secure and that no injuries have been recorded. University police also sent an “all clear” notice.
No danger was detected despite a comprehensive examination. The campus is not in danger. At 10:53 p.m. CT on Friday, the institution announced on Twitter that the alert had been discontinued.
The institution tweeted that there was an active shooter just before 9:30 p.m. CT and advised people to “take urgent action immediately. Run. Hide. Fight!”
Here is that tweet:
OU-Norman Emergency: There is an active shooter at the Van Vleet Oval. Take immediate action now. Run. Hide. Fight!

A second tweet that said campus police were looking into “potential guns fired” on school property came after the first warning.
“Avoid South Oval area. Shelter in place,” the university had said.
When officials had evacuated the campus late on Friday night, the shelter-in-place warning was withdrawn.
