A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot late Thursday at the Shasta Glen Apartments in Linda, a small town in Yuba County. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the apartment complex located on Gossett Way. Upon arrival, deputies from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office discovered the young victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by medics at the scene, the boy succumbed to his injuries.
The identity of the victim has not been released by the Sheriff’s Office at this time.
Following their investigation, detectives arrested 19-year-old Gabriel Angel Aguayo on a homicide charge in connection with the boy’s death. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation by authorities.
To aid in collecting evidence at the crime scene, the California Department of Justice provided assistance to the sheriff’s detectives. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office at 530-749-7777.
