Fatal Shooting Follows Deputy Dragging Incident in Shelby County, TBI Reports

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has confirmed that a person was shot and killed by a Shelby County Sherriff’s deputy early on Saturday morning.

When the deputy from the Shelby County Sherriff’s Office opened fire, they were reportedly conducting a traffic stop.

An incident occurred on Rosswood Avenue when a deputy went up to a parked automobile and tried to prevent the driver from fleeing the area.

Unknown factors led to the escalation that ended with the man fleeing in his car while dragging the deputy for around 100 yards.

TBI claims that at least once during the incident, the deputy discharged his weapon, striking the motorist.

The driver tragically passed away on the route to the emergency room.
