Police in Omaha, Nebraska, have released the names of the two victims whose bodies were discovered in a cemetery parking lot on Wednesday. After receiving reports of gunfire on Thursday afternoon, police arrived and pronounced both Joseph Cheloha, 50, and his mother, Josephine Cheloha, 81, dead at the spot.
Homicide investigators found that Joseph Cheloha shot his wife, Josephine, before turning the gun on himself in the automobile. A suicide note was found at the scene, according to the press statement.
Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery is located in south Omaha, and around 3:32 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a complaint there and discovered a man and a woman dead in a dark SUV in the parking lot, both with apparent gunshot wounds.

OPD Lt. Neal Bonacci stated that two firearms were located inside the vehicle. In a press release issued on Thursday, police confirmed the report. In the release, the Omaha Police Department expresses its “deepest condolences” to the Cheloha family. On Wednesday, homicide detectives spent over three hours there.
