Jay Briscoe, a Ring of Honor legend better known by his ring name, was killed in a car accident on Tuesday. As for his age, he was 38.

After twenty years, Briscoe finally left Ring of Honor. Along with his brother Mark, he established a tag team and won a record-setting 13 ROH World Tag Team titles. The native of Delaware also won two ROH titles.

One of the cars Briscoe was in collided head-on with another. They were both pronounced dead at the site. Briscoe’s two kids, who were also in the car, were hurt in the accident and taken to the hospital.

The Delaware State Police said that Briscoe was driving east in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 when a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction drove into his lane for “unknown reasons” and collided with his car. Both Briscoe and the other driver were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Gracie and Jayleigh Briscoe, Briscoe’s kids, were passengers in the car when it crashed. His girls, however, were safely buckled in while he was not.

The News Journal quotes Jana Pugh, Briscoe’s mother, as saying that her son was a devoted family man who never missed one of his kids’ cheerleading competitions.

Jana Pugh stated to Delaware Online that she was showered with love and support. She also brought up the trending hashtag “prayersforthePughs” online.

Together with the love of his fans, Briscoe will be remembered as a pillar of the neighbourhood. His son, Gannon, played for the Laurel Middle School football team, on which he served as an assistant coach. Furthermore, he coached a young basketball squad.

Kevin Walmsley, the sports director at Laurel High, told the News Journal, “He was extensively involved.” “He attended classes regularly… A terrible disaster has struck the neighbourhood.”

School in the Laurel School District was cancelled on Wednesday, 18 January as a mark of respect for Briscoe and his family:

A True Fighter In The Ring

Wrestlers all throughout the world have been paying tribute to Briscoe this week. Tony Khan, owner of All Elite Wrestling, paid his respects on social media. During Tuesday’s episode of “WWE NXT,” World Wrestling Entertainment also spoke to the press about Briscoe.

Wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) showed their support and tribute to Briscoe on 19 January by wrestling while wearing black armbands:

“Jamin Pugh has passed away, unfortunately. Jay Briscoe, as he is popularly known, has been a mainstay in Ring of Honor (ROH) for the better part of two decades. “Khalil khan put pen to paper. “Jay and his brother Mark are still the undisputed kings of ROH. When it comes to helping out his loved ones, we’ll do anything we can. Jamin, I hope you rest easy.”
