Barrett was conceived on May 28th, 1970, and was born on May 28th, 1970, in Riverside, California. After high school he knew he wanted to pursue a career in film, so he attended a local university.
Barrett studied painting, printing, and photography for his BA in art history at UCLA, as reported by the American Society of Cinematographers.
In an interview with Kodak from 2007, he explained that one of his painting teachers had recommended that he enroll in film courses. “The filmmaking teacher gave me a lot of positive feedback. He’d always tell me to “experiment” when I made a blunder.”

Barrett received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and then traveled to New York to pursue graduate studies in film at Columbia University.
The lack of a cinematography major was something he told Kodak he thought was for the best. “About three or four of us would take turns firing at anything that moved. I have filmed over 40 student films and several music videos for local groups.”
Later, he worked on film sets with his idol, Allen Daviau. Tanya Wexler, who directed one of Barrett’s earliest films, recommended that he get in touch with her uncle, cinematographer Haskell Wexler. Barrett would accompany Haskell on set visits, and Haskell would give the young actor advice about making it in the business.
Barrett entered the profession shortly after completing his master’s degree when he was still young enough for his representatives to tell lies about his age. “My representative would tell folks that I was older than I actually was,” he recounted. When I went out for interviews, people always remarked how youthful I appeared.
Michael Barrett Works As A Cinematographer
Barrett joined the American Society of Cinematographers in 2015 and has been an active member ever since. His website boasts of his involvement in hundreds of movies and TV episodes, some of which include Bobby, Ted, and Supergirl.
He won an Emmy for an episode of CSI: Miami in 2003, and he was nominated twice more for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episodes. The Camerimage International Film Festival nominated him for a Golden Frog in 2006 for his work on Bobby.
Anna Faris And Michael Barrett Eloped In 2021
Faris wore a ring in November 2019, but the pair didn’t announce it. Faris’ costar Allison Janney revealed they had “been engaged for a long time” in January 2020.
